Alas, our last day. I was really ready to get home, because I missed the kids terribly! We've never left them for any real amount of time, so this was hard on us. Our flight didn't leave till 9:00 that night, so we had the whole day. We arranged for a late checkout at the hotel, and Corey went golfing again while I sat by the pool, this time slathered in sunscreen. When he got back, we played by the pool for awhile longer, then got to the business of packing. No small feat, when you're trying to keep your dirty clothes away from the few clean things we had left, along with all our souvenirs we'd collected... all the while trying to keep our two bags under the 50 lbs mark so we weren't charged anything extra.
Here's a pic of the course Corey golfed that day.
We never really got used to the time change, because it's 5 hours earlier there (we went over the change in daylight saving, but Hawaii doesn't change, so it was that much different). That was okay, because we're not really nightlife partiers, and we were able to get up early and get started on our days without wasting any of it laying in bed, while we still were able to lay in bed. Here's a picture of the moon setting, Corey was out so early golfing.
There were some petroglyphs down the road from our hotel, so we went to check them out. Here's Corey, posing like a petroglyph on the picture from the sign.
Trouble was, it was hard to tell which were authentic and which were carved there in recent years. People dug their names into the stones, pictures of things they found appropriate, random other things. I think this is authentic, a picture of a monkey.
We spent the rest of the day shopping some more, killing time till our dinner reservation, and just saying goodbye to our vacation. It was awesome, and I have to credit Corey for all the fun things we ended up doing. Travel back to Minneapolis was much quicker and less traumatic than the way out... even though we slept on the floor of the Seattle airport for an hour or so. Corey took the worst picture of me just waking up, but I decline to include that gem on our blog. You'll just have to imagine. Corey's already starting to plan our next Hawaiian trip, to Kauai this time. We'll see how soon that ends up happening. I don't see anyone jumping up and volunteering to watch 3 kids for a week so we can go off gallivanting again anytime soon.
